Victim Services Expansion Meeting with Josephine's Place

We had the pleasure of visiting Josephine's Place in Elizabeth to meet with Executive Director, Ms. Gail Driscoll. Josephine's Place opened its doors in 2003 with the purpose of creating a safe space for women in the community.  By asking the women that walk through their doors what it is they want and need, they have been able to do just that.

The moment you step foot inside, you can feel a sense of welcome. There is such a homey feel to this beautiful storefront. The intent was to create a space where individuals could sit comfortably, hold a conversation, and feel at home.

But it is so much more than just a meeting space! For many, it is like a second home. It is a space to learn, grow, share, heal, and empower. Gail shared all of the wonderful programs that Josephine's Place offers, such as ESL classes, citizenship classes, computer classes, support groups, yoga, arts & crafts, and more.

They even have a play area for children while their mothers attend classes. Josephine's Place believes that child care should never be a barrier for a mom desiring to better herself.

Visit their website or their Facebook page to learn more about their upcoming classes and programs, or to sign up as a volunteer.
